ABOUT MARTIN

about Martin Boschhuizen

Mad about aviation since I could walk, I picked up an SLR camera at the age of 15 in 1987 and never looked back. Today I combine my experience and passion for aviation photography to create out-of-the-ordinary aviation photos.

One of my favourite places to go are the Swiss Alps, Axalp to be precise. Amazing scenery, fast jets, challenging light and hard work to get the best shots. Just the way I like it!

I have been a member of Airteamimages since 2004. Airteamimages is the world’s first and biggest online aviation stock photo library with millions of aviation photos.

I like my shots to be stories of their own. My drive is to capture that magic combination of action, scenery and weather, to produce an image that is able to hold your breath for a just a moment.

STORIES

THE STORY BEHIND THE STORIES

When I was young I would devour aviation and photography magazines. Nowadays many, if not all, magazines that I used to consider inspiring are all but gone. When I started this website a few years ago, I wanted these Stories to be the cornerstone of the site. Simply because it inspires me and hopefully others as well.

That is how the Stories were born. Stories how they were intended in the era of glossy lifestyle magazines. The ones lying on the coffee table in the time when we were still reading. Starting with form and thinking about function later, aimed to inspire, photo heavy, carefully designed and sometimes a bit over the top.

When it comes to Stories I have the same attitude as when I take photos: do not worry too much about conventions, and take my own inspiration as a guiding principle. So that is why I will happily include a a-typcial picture or design if I think it adds to the story. Typically creating a new Story costs me at 20 to 40 hours including re-editing the images from scratch. Nevertheless, I really enjoy making them and I think they are good showcase of how my photography style. On top of that it is fantastic to hear the amazing feedback from people that read them and see that inspires them in turn. For me this makes the circle round.
