What are the product details of the Photo prints
All photos are printed in a professional lab in the Netherlands on Fujifilm Digital Professional DP II photo paper. This paper has a wonderful structure and is able to deliver stunning sharpness, gloss and vivid colours.
Unlike most other photo labs my photos are printed at 300dpi up until 50*75 and in 250dpi for larger sizes. Combined with the professional photo paper you will be stunned by the output.
Photo prints are delivered in three standard finishes: Gloss, Lustre or Matte. Matte comes at a slightly bigger cost currently.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag is one of the world’s most highly rated Fine Art papers. A completely matte cotton paper with its characteristic, restrained structure and silky-smooth finish. Very versatile in use and mind-blowing to see your pictures on this paper.
Depending on the subject of your print I might suggest to print on another type of Hahnemühle paper, in order to maximize the impact of the photo. but of course, you are always in the driving seat to decide on which Hahnemühle paper I print your order.
What are Giclèe Prints
Giclée prints, derived from the French term for ‘spray’, are high-quality, long-lasting prints made with an inkjet printer using vibrant pigment inks. They offer a superior depth of color, sharp details, and exceptional reproduction of original artwork, making them a popular choice for galleries and museums.
Unlike standard prints, Giclée prints use multiple inks to create a wide range of colors, adding depth and feel to the print. The use of high-grade paper or canvas ensures durability, making these prints a valuable investment. While normal prints are more affordable, Giclée prints provide a higher quality option, especially for fine art reproductions and archival purposes.
What is the quality of the older photos?
My photos go back as far as 1987. And despite the fact that I have always invested all the money I could afford in the best cameras and lenses, it is obvious that image quality has improved drastically over the past decades.
You can be assured of the fact that the quality of any image I offer is always good, but the amount of detail and contrast that films and lenses from 40 years ago where able to resolve is lower than today.
When in doubt for a particular photo, do contact me, I can help and advise you in making your decision.
In what size should I order for my prints?
Ready for some Pythagorean Theorem? The ideal viewing distance is usually calculated as:
-
- minimum distance is 1.5x the diagonal of the print and
- maximum distance is 2.0x of the diagonal of the print
This means the following for the standard sizes I offer:
Of course it is no crime to stand closer and observe all the details. But take it as rule of thumb. To make it even more concrete:
-
- For a print on your desk I would choose 30 x 20cm or 45 x 30cm
- For a print above your desk I would advise 60 x 40cm or 77 x 50cm.
- For a print above your couch i would go for 75 x 50cm or 105 x 70cm
- If you want to go crazy and cover a large space in a large room go for 150 x 100cm or even larger up to 300cm in width
Of course always happy to discuss the options with you directly.
What photo finish should I choose? Gloss, Lustre or Matte?
That is highly personal, but I will try to explain it shortly.
Gloss increases the contrast and produces vivid colours, but is also more sensitive to glare from outside lights or lamps. This is the most popular finish usually.
Matte has a beautiful finish with minimal reflection and beautiful true to life colour reproduction. Personally I like the matte finish best for aviation photos.
Lustre might be considered as in between gloss and matte and has a very subtle surface structure. Considered ideal for framing.
Where are the products printed?
All photo prints are printed by a professional lab in the Netherlands. Whereas all wall decor is printed by a professional lab in Germany. From there your order is directly shipped to you to make sure that you receive it as soon as it has been produced and packed.
